What is an “Essential Oil”?

According to Wikipedia “An essential oil is a concentrated hydrophobic liquid containing volatile aroma compounds from plants. Essential oils are also known as volatile oils, ethereal oils, aetherolea, or simply as the oil of the plant from which they are extracted, as in oil of clove. An oil is “essential” in the sense that it contains the “essence of” of the plants fragrance – the characteristic fragrance of the plant from which it is derived.”

How can I use Essential Oils?

Essential oils can be used three different ways.

Diffusion – using a diffuser is easy. Simply fill it with water, and add 5-10 drops of essential oil and turn it on. The diffuser will create a light, thin mist of fragrance. As you breathe in the mist, the oil’s beneficial properties will start to work immediately.
Topical Application – Once you have diluted your pure essential oil with a carrier oil, such as fractionated coconut oil (FCO), it can be applied directly to the skin where it can be absorbed into the body. Many lotions and skincare products can be made using essential oils, which are more beneficial to your body than commercial products sold in stores.
Household – Essential oils can be used in the bath, in a spray bottle to apply to linens, mixed with water, vinegar or other oils to create clean, safe products for your home.

Which Brand should I purchase?

My favorite brand is Rocky Mountain Oils (RMO). RMO’s are the highest quality oils and 100% Pure and Natural. Each batch of individual oil is independently tested twice.  Once before purchase from the the supplier and tested again before shipped to the customer.  They can provide test results for each of their individual oils.  Simply request the test results based on the batch number on the bottom of your Oil bottle.

RMO takes care of the environment and has proactively started using recycled packaging including recycled amber bottles.  They also take other companies bottles to have them recycled.  They are the only company in the essential oil industry to take on this initiative.

40 drops Pink Grapefruit
4 ounces Distilled Water

Attention Assist Massage Cream

S30 drops Attention Assist
20 drops Bergamot FCF
1 teaspoon FCO
1 cup Shea Butter
Melt shea butter and add FCO. Blend in essential oils. Put in container and allow to cool completely. Close lid and label. Massage into back and chest as needed.

75 drops Brainstorm

75 drops Focusing
4 ounces Distilled Water
Add all ingredients to a 4 ounce, fine mist spray bottle. Shake well before every use. Liberally spritz room as often as needed. Can refill the water 2-3 times before needing to refill the oil.

Meditation Diffuser Blend

5-10 drops of The Secret

Aligning Bath

2-3 drops Aligning
2 teaspoons FCO
1 cup Sea Salts
Dissolve oils in the Sea Salt and FCO then add to a warm/hot bath. Soak for 20-30 minutes. (Make sure your skin can handle the blend before immersing yourself in it.)

Aligning Massage Cream

30 drops Aligning
1 teaspoon FCO
1 cup Shea Butter
In a double boiler melt shea butter and FCO. Once slightly cooled blend in Aligning. Stir and put in a glass container and allow to cool completely. Close lid and label. Massage into desired targeted area 2-3 times a day.

75 drops Clarity
4 ounces Distilled Water

Add to a diffuser and breathe in deep and enjoy.

Trouble Sleeping

With Peace & Quiet, bring a sense of quietness and peace to your day when you diffuse the oil. Help aid cessation of bad habits while uplifting the mood and dispelling inferior thoughts. Balancing Foot Balm

½ ounce Beeswax
2 tablespoons Shea Butter
1 teaspoon Vitamin E
1 capsule Evening Primrose oil
45 drops Peace and Quiet
Melt the Beeswax and Shea Butter together in a double boiler. Can also use a glass bowl sitting in hot water. Once they are melted and mixed together, remove from heat and add Vitamin E and Evening Primrose oil and stir well. As the mixture is cooling, add essential oils and continue stirring. Pour into desired container and cap when cool. Use daily or as needed on feet.

Quiet Nerves Bath

2-3 drops Peace and Quiet
2 teaspoons Jojoba Oil
1 cup Sea Salts
Dissolve oils in the Sea Salt and add to a warm/hot bath. Soak for 20-30 minutes. (Make sure your skin can handle the blend before immersing yourself in it.)
